Northern Trust, a leading provider of financial services for institutions and affluent individuals worldwide, announced today the appointment of John F. Hoffman to President of its New York Personal Financial Services business. He will manage all aspects of Northern Trust’s New York Personal Financial Services business, including client service and new client development. He reports to Northeast Region President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Kauffman.
“John has been instrumental in helping us build a successful business for Northern Trust in New York and the broader Northeast Region,” Kauffman said. “With his strong background and experience advising and servicing complex relationships, John understands how to deliver a consistent, high value client experience.”
Hoffman joined Northern Trust in 2003 when the firm opened its New York office. In his role as a senior wealth advisor, he helped develop and define the firm’s Wealth Advisory offering, which provides comprehensive wealth management solutions to affluent individuals and families. Prior to joining Northern Trust, he worked at U.S. Trust for eight years where he served as a senior vice president in its high-net-worth planning group. He was also employed by The AYCO Company L.P. as a senior financial planner and was a member of the firm’s investment planning committee.
Hoffman holds an MBA and a BBA from Hofstra University. He received his CIMA designation from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and his CPWA designation from the University of Chicago. Hoffman is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts, the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and sits on the editorial advisory board for the IMCA publication Investments and Wealth Monitor.
